Fall Latino Film Festival at Otay Ranch Center

SAN DIEGO LATINO FILM FESTIVAL AND OTAY RANCH TOWN CENTER PROUDLY PRESENT FOURTH ANNUAL SEPTEMBER OUTDOOR FILM SERIES "QUE VIVA! CINE LATINO"
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the public is invited to experience a collection of popular Latino films in a unique outdoor setting. In addition, there will be a Latino art exhibit and live music and dance entertainment.
All film screenings are free and open to the general public. The series begins September 1 and runs each Wednesday throughout the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the food pavilion at the Otay Ranch Center.
September 1 - Free Screening of CASI DIVAS, directed by Issa Lopez! Four ambitious and beautiful young women. From four very different corners of Mexico. Just like hundreds of others, they are caught up in the frenzy that sweeps the nation when Alejandro Mateos (Julio Bracho), one of the country's most powerful producers, dreams up a nationwide talent search to cast the lead in his next big movie. But all this is news to Alejandro's on-again, off-again lover, Eva Gallardo (Patricia Llaca) , a diva of epic proportions, who expected to get the part. While Eva schemes to nail down the role, our four leads begin their own journey on the road to fame.
September 8 - Free Screening of ENTRE NOS, directed by Gloria La Morte and Paola Mendoza!
A story based on facts which offers a fresh take on the issue of new immigrants in the United States. Mariana totes her two children from Colombia to reunite with her husband in Queens, New York. Her life is devastatingly turned around when her husband abandons the family. The woman and her kids have to fend for themselves in a foreign country. Mariana desperately searches for work. In the end, she resourcefully navigates a surprising avenue for making some money, the city's recycling.
September 15 - Free Screening of A MI ME GUSTA, directed by Ralph Kinnard! When Margartia's dreams, to become a famous cook come to a crumbing halt when immigration kicks her out of the country - her arrival in Venezuela is painful. Little does she know that the famous English chef, Paul Welsare, is about to arrive in Venezuela and this will give her the opportunity to dream again.
September 22 - Free Screening of CARLITOS Y EL CAMPO DE LOS SUENOS, directed by Ralph Kinnard! Carlitos Bermudez has two desires in life: first, to find a kind couple who will adopt him from the Spanish orphanage where he lives, and second, to become a soccer player for Spain's youth national team. With the help of his fellow orphans and his best friend Chunks, he sets out on a mission to prove his soccer playing abilities to the world and to himself.
September 29 - Free Screening of LA MISSION, directed by Peter Bratt! Growing up in the Mission district of San Francisco, Che Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) has always had to be tough to survive. He's a powerful man respected throughout the Mission barrio for his masculinity and his strength, as well as for his hobby building beautiful lowrider cars. A reformed inmate and recovering alcoholic, Che has worked hard to redeem his life and do right by his pride and joy: his only son, Jes, whom he has raised on his own after the death of his wife. Che's path to redemption is tested, however, when he discovers Jes is gay. To survive his neighborhood, Che has always lived with his fists. To survive as a complete man, he'll have to embrace a side of himself he's never shown.
